Torremolinos

Torremolinos is located just 10 minutes from the airport of Málaga and is a tourists' paradise, being the first town in the whole of Spain to open up to international mass tourism. It's success story began in the 1950s, when the European travel market turned it's eyes to sunny and cheap Spain.

By the 1960s and 1970s, tourism in the area was booming, with many thousands of visitors arriving each week throughout the year. Package holiday deals and all-inclusive offers are in abundance. Torremolinos was the first Costa del Sol resort to be developed back in the early sixties when it was little more than a sleepy village, even today the town reflects its heritage with several of the original fresh fish bars located right in the shopping centre, boutiques and gift shops. In general, however, the wave of tourists who descended on the town in the fifties and sixties changed the face of Torremolinos forever. Over the years, Torremolinos has evolved as an attractive and appealing, noted for its clean sandy beaches, wide choice of hotels and restaurants and an unparalleled variety of entertainment, activities and nightlife. 

Torremolinos beaches are well-equipped and cleaned daily, and the best beaches include La Carihuela, Bajondillo Beach, Montemar, Los Alamos, Saltillo Beach and the Costa Lago Beach. The city is not noted for its monuments but within minutes you are in Malaga city with its huge cultural offerings of museums, monuments, a charming old city, gastronomy and the feel of a Mediterranean capital. Also, very close to Torremolinos are the popular cities of Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Mijas and Marbella.
